I got the front u-joints cleaned and lubed today, in addition to new sway bar links and a replacement for the blown out steering stabilizer. The u-joints were a bit on the dry side. Everything seems ok now (although I know I should have left the steering stabilizer off to know for sure). My mechanic said that the steering box may need some attention in the future, as the steering wheel doesn't easily come back to center, or at least as easily as it should. That is a repair for another day.

 

My '99 Limited started the same low speed turning wobble this winter.Feels like a locker in the front but it's an open differential.Pulled the front diff. cover to have a look and change fluid.Looked good inside and both front wheels spin free of each other when in the air.Had it aligned and new tires.I'm baffled,it never used to do this and it did slightly improve after alignment.

 

I guess it could be wheel alignment in my case since it is so bad my steering wheel is almost facing 9 o clock to steer straight
