Wheel on the Roof
I am hoping to mount my full-size spare tire/wheel on the roof of my 1999 XJ. It came with a factory cross-member rack. Is there a factory adaptor that would allow for me to tie directly to the cross-member?

Jeep offered a little-known X-shaped spare tire carrier that attached directly to the roof rails of the XJ. I have seen only one in person and the guy said he worked for Jeep at the Toledo plant and had his installed when he ordered the Jeep new.
I saw some threads at NAXJA where people mentioned they have found them on ebay for under $100. With a lot of patience and luck, you might find one - they don't seem to exist in very high numbers. I believe it was classified as a Mopar Accessory.

I rubber bungiee the full sized spare(31x10.5R15 Wild Country TXR) on the roof of my 84 for the last 22,+++ miles, but I WOULDNT DO THAT TO MY 99 OR 01. Well maby the 99. Once the engines rebuilt and back Up and running.
