So, I've been reading up on replacing the front and rear wheel bearings and plan to do them this summer.

The question now, is what brand/type to use. The timkens seem to be the highest rated, but recently they've come out with a ball-bearing type, which seem to be a better option.

Has anyone used them? Are they as good as the timkens? Do they last as long?

Thoughts, suggestions, and especially user testimonials would be very welcome!

I think you've answered your own question...looks like you've done the research and just need to decide for yourself what you would like to use.

 

Well, ball bearings seem to offer less friction, but the spindle bearings have been "road tested" for well over 20 years.

I hate to do a job twice, so I was hoping to learn from the experiences of others.

Like my dad always says: If you don't have time to do the job right, you don't have time to do it twice.
