I will not be back to this site in a while because all it has in it is a bunch of shade tree book mechanics.
Get under the hood of a early model fuel injection or even a late model, and you will see a line that comes off of the fuel rail on a ported system, and you will have a line coming off of a throttle body system.
It is after the fuel pressure regulator, where does that line go, it is a mystery uh.

OBD1 (pre 96) have a fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail and a return line from the FPR to the tank.
OBD2 (96 on wards) have a fuel pressure regulator in the tank and no return line from the fuel rail to the tank. OBD2 Jeeps have a constant 49PSI on the fuel rail it i.e does not change with throttle position.
With the ~95-96 model jeeps that were in the change over period one easy way to tell if it is obd1 or 2 is look for FPR on the fuel rail.

cherokeesteve, im sorry that you feel you must leave this site due to a little difference of opinions, which if you ask me is one of the great thing of a forum, granted all people here are not "trained" professionals but with anything especially jeeps its the experiences of individuals that helps everyone.

cherokeesteve, your 87 cherokee does in fact have the regulator mounted on the fuel rail and the return line comes off that and goes back to the tank. newer jeeps(most all cars now) have the regulator mounted in the tank near or on the pump module. i would assume that the manufacturers did this so they could put one less line in the vehicle, thus saving $x per car.

If Cherokeesteve wants too if he can make it to Oklahoma and show me this I'll buy him lunch. But, I'm not out any money cause my '96 has one fuel line that goes from the pump to the fuel rail. As does my Mustang.
