Afternoon everybody.
Today while sitting in traffic my volt gauge pegged out an 19 volts and about two minutes later it went back to 14. Was wondering if I should be concerned about this or not.
My rig is a 1998 XJ with the 4.0 I6. The alternator is a 90 amp that's only a year old and the battery is a 65 series that's a little over a year old.
Thanks in advanced.

Sounds like the regulator is going south in the alternator.

Poop.... Well, its got a lifetime warranty so no biggie. But could it hurt anything by doing so? It done about a month ago for pretty much same duration.
Thanks for the reply so far.
