Personally I'd never run the stuff, but it's personal preference I suppose.

Every 305 I've seen has ran fine and has had plenty of miles racked up on them.

the 305 is a POS motor hence why everyone does a swap from the 305 to a 350. every single one i have ever worked on burned oil and smoked regardless what was done to the motor. one of them was the best of the 305s (L03) in a 95 pickup with a huge 30K on it and dealership oil changes and maint. it burnt oil and made less power than the 4.0L chero's do all while getting worse gas mileage.

I'm a service tech for right now, it's just my starting position at the dealership really. If you want to judge my car knowledge, check out my XJ. I built the entire thing myself, and it's still a never ending project.
305s don't make tons of power, but they last a longggg time lol.

i use good ol valvoline 10w 30 and 10w 40 in my jeep. my buddy is a sales man for schaeffers and they do test with there oils and all kinds of sh**. pretty neat stuff. i use it (schaeffers) in my jet ski it saved gas and ran better. schaeffers may be more expensive but it is for a good reason. its freaking great oil. schaeffers and valvoline are my oils makes my engines last and run great.
