I am planning on going with the Firestone MTs, they should be good on the road and on the trails. They are also a three ply side wall and are suppose to wear good. Sipe the centers and they are great on packed snow and ice. I think that three ply side walls for a trail tire is a must.Originally Posted by mike20

I've been hearing nothing but great stuff about the Firestone Destination MT's. It's almost changed my mind on which tires I was going to get. I was going to go with the KM2's, but tirerack rates the Firestone MT's first, and lots of people lately have been talking about how great they do on the road (and my Jeep sees a lot of road miles). Might just be something else to consider.
i like those Destination M/T, only problem is i need a 35" which they dont make according to their website. id be willing to go with a 16 or 17" wheel but that would meed id have to get a metric tire and all metric sizes are a load range E

Yea, Mike, it is a pta to find something you really like and not be able to get it in the size you want, and it isn't like 35x12.5r 15 is a unusual size. My problem is I would love to have a set of IROCs in a 33x13.5r 15, but the only 33 they make as far as I can find out is a 33x13.5r 17 and that makes the side wall to short for wheeling.

I have not run the Kevlar's but they are supposed to be better than the original MT/r's which means they must be amazing. as the originals are great for anything. From what is on your list the Cooper STT would be my second pick. Otherwie, the Firestone Destination MT/ Dayton Timberline MT (same tire as they are made by same company just different brand). They do good overall, even snow. and the wear is decent.
i have the original mtr's now and honestly i dont like them at all they have no traction on the slick rock

I ran MTRs with full siping on the slick rock and they did good. I aired them down to 10 lbs and drove them about 15 miles on the highway at 60 to get the sidewalls so they would flex and then they worked great.

I have the Firestone Destination M/T's. I like them a lot. They're great on the hwy and have great wet traction. They are one of the highest rated M/T's.

Amen to that. I have a set of the LTB's on mine and I should hang a bucket off them to catch the tread as it flies off. They wear like crap..I have the Iroks on my Dodge and they wear just as bad.Originally Posted by Diesel
