Guys, Im back to college and my XJ is worrying me to death. The last thing I need is my DD crapin on itself and not having a way to school. Anyway, I have a cracked header.. haven't checked it in a while, but I think it has cracked a bit more, especially since my death wobble was so bad prior to my alignment and tire balancing. Anyway, can a loose header or exhaust pipe cause a metallic rattling?

Here's the issue. When I am accelerating, I hear a sound similiar to that of the fan clipping the radiator.. metal rattling. I also hear a deep tone, similiar to that of a race car goin down the track. Can this all be related to my header issue?

 

sounds like it could be the header. its common for them to crack so i wouldnt be surprised if thats what it was

 

I know it is cracked, but is it possible that it cracked even more, became louder and started rattling? The ol' girl still drives great. No hesitation, no sluggishness.
