Quote: The heater control valve was discontinued on '97 up......at least I thought it was. If water was squirted in the t-stat heater hose and it came out the water pump, u flushed the heater core.
Even with all the octopus junction of hoses I have going on? If that is the case then that water actually came out clear when I flushed water through that hose.

What looked the worst was when I stuck the hose in the opening where the thermostat goes. It was nothing but brown water for several minutes. No goop coming out though thank goodness.

One last question
One last question and I will lay this thread to rest.

I called Auto Zone earlier this evening about a new t-stat. They have 3 different ones. A $5, $10 and $16 t-stat.

The $16 one is a fail safe type. Should I spring for that one? I was leaning towards mid-grade to save $6. Man I am a cheap skate!

i was told to get the failsafe, as it was the only 195˚ t-stat they have, the others are 160˚ and 180˚.

Just my .02 anyway.
