Default What is missing here?

Sooooo, after inspecting my new jeep a little bit further I discovered a soft small hose and a bigger metal one has been cut off. I believe it to be up to the charcoal box (and what the hell is that by the way?)

I also have a bonus question;
I managed to close the leak on my vacuum system so now the ac blows air also in my face. Yay! When I start the ac it starts screaming like a cat and settles down after a few seconds. Some dried out belt to lube?

Yeah, that long tube looks like it comes out of the bottom of the charcoal canister. It's vented to the atmosphere. Don't have that on my '88.

The other squashed tip is likely the HVAC drain from the heater box. As condensation forms on the evaporator, it drips off into the box and out the drain. If you run the AC for a while (really any ac), you eventually see the pool of water on the ground.

For the screech, could be the belt is too loose. Belt tension is like 140#-160#. Best measured with a proper belt tension tool.

Well, there appears to be some debris in the drain tube. If it's blocked, the heater box can fill up and then leak into the passenger side.

There's also quite a bit of oil all over. Check your oil filter adapter and valve cover gasket.

Ok will try to clean out the drain tube, good catch. Don’t mind the oil, just a rookie oil change realizing I have to push down the gasket into the cavity on the filter before putting it in 🫣. You should see my garage floor..

No time to look at it yet, but Wednesday is Jeep day so tomorrow I’ll get right to it!

had a look today and I can’t find where to adjust the belt. Mine doesn’t have that angled threaded rod I’ve seen people turning to tighten/loosen the belt. Any clues? it’s a 1990 4.0

It's behind and below the PS pump. You need to loosen the bolts on the PS pump bracket and a cinch bolt on the adjuster.

Look down behind the PS pulley. The cinch bolt will be behind the belt on the low side. The bolt head in under the PS reservoir. It's all a bit easier to get to with the airbox removed.
