Ok, I checked that and the bottom plastic part was on top of the bottom metal piece. I bent it back up and now it does not touch. I'm going to go drive it now and see if it still makes that sound. Probably won't report back again until 2pm.

So I unbent it and you can't hear the sound inside anymore at idle. I guess the plastic piece was allowing the sound to be transferred to the metal piece that the egr is bolted onto and through the firewall. The sound is still there under the hood, it's the egr valve.

nice well thats the sound they make i guess. nice to not be able to hear it inside anymore.
