So I'm pretty new to the more extensive side of engine mechanics and was seeking insight on this 1990 XJ with the i4 2.5l Renix controlled engine.
​​​​​​ I'm not quite sure what this pipe is for. You can see that obviously something hooks up there but like I said before I'm new to this.

I took pictures from a few different angles to make it a little easier to see what I'm talking about but to give you a little reference it's on the right side of the engine underneath the intake manifold.

If you have Windows, open your pics in Paint (always comes with Windows, look in the Program Files under Accessories). You can circle things, or put arrows in place to indicate which specific part you mean. Like this:

3300 3439 TUBE, Shroud Extension

Take a look on the air box for where a tube (53002877) would connect it to.

 

Coolant hose? Idk...I drove this thing home so I really hope that's not what it is 😂 (haven't tried starting since) just trying to gather info first.
