Too Much Oil
Hey guys, i accidentally added a little bit too much oil to my cherokee when i was adding oil. When i check my oil level. it comes up about a quarter of an inch above to "do not overfill" line. Is this a big deal and i should drain some? or can i just leave it be?

How am I being a jackass? I've had to drain some out before because I didn't wait long enough for it all to drain down into the pan. I put a clean container under the pan, loosened the drain plug and let some oil out. You don't like my advice then don't follow it... just don't call me names when you ask for help and don't like my answer (which is THE EXACT same thing that I have had to do before).

I'm proud to say after fixing leaks all small I now use less than a Qt. between changes and that is on a 240,000 mi. engine. Before that I used my XJ to oil down my gravel driveway to keep the dust down.
The good part it was here that I found all the spots it was leaking I think in every one of them (except) the "REAR MAIN SEAL" what I thought it was all coming from.

So are we concluding the straw is not a 1st choice remedy?
I actually keep a little cheap plastic dollar store siphon tube that comes with a little plastic bulb containing a one way valve. Used it in multiple situations to suck oil, trans fluid, steering fluid, and gas.
Actually works really good. I just hang it on a nail later to let it fully drain out till next time needed.
$1.50 well spent. Some day it will break. OK, I've spent another buck and have a spare hanging in package. PS the dollar store turkey baster is also a great little tool to add to your kit, and the cheapest source.
At a 1/4" above the fill mark, it is touch and go whether critical to result in foaming. Especially as suggested it being an XJ and is often self draining.
But most assured route is as suggested to get it back in the zone.
Take it for a spin round the block and check the dipstick. Is the oil foaming.
If no foam, how much natural oil consumption does your XJ normally go thru?
As for taco folder, I don't have one of those in the tool box, yet.
