Default What kind of offroad lights should I mount on my 1991 XJ bumper?

I have the mounts welded into the new custom bumper, but would love to get a recommendation for the kind of offroad lights are good to mount there. Also should I go with the big alternator at that time? I've been waiting for mine to go, but its been working great

The only advice i can give is i dont really care for KC lights because they get really hot. The other thing about the alternator is do you know what amp alt you got right now. They made 3 different ones for my 88 but i dont know if they changed anything on the 90's model. they made a 60, a 85, and a 100 amp. So you might wanna find out what it has on it now.

i personally like the hella lights.... model 500 or 550. one is round and the other is rectangle. i am running 3 pairs of lights on my stock alt. and battery with no problems whatsoever. but mine is a 99 and probably has a different alt alltogether.

you wont need a new alt for one pair of lights. IMHO anything less than a Hella 500 is worthless.

I put the replacement IPF headlights in the front of the jeep with the Fatboy lights patterns. So I'm running a bit more power than the factory on the main lights now. (But boy are they better)

How do I find out (is there a plate on the alternator) for the output?

I am running a set of Hella 500's w/ 55W and a set of 450's w/ 100W. I have had no problems and have IPF H4's you will be fine.

I want to know about the deal on the 550's off ebay.

find the guy on ebay....very nice guy. his store and user name is ptcfactoryoutlet. he is out of georgia, right next to the hella warehouse and he sells all the sets that the boxes are damaged. so he sells the whole kits out of brown boxes.....hence a great deal. he also sells brand new kits in original packaging. these are also pretty cheap. cheapest that i have seen on ebay. i just talked to the guy a little bit about different lights and set ups and shot him an offer for some lights and he helped me out big time!! and its not only 550's, he has a wide variety. and a lot more that aren't in his store, so just ask him. he is always getting new stuff in.
hope this helps guys!!

99% of all 97 and lower XJs had 90s. newer ones and crazy police/fleet older ones had the 136
