the gauge shows less then you really have, helps keep you from running out of gas

Highway I'll get 17-19 mpg. Drove mine from Cleveland Oh to Detroit Mi and back on a tank.

oops, after checking some specs apparently the manuals w/ 4.0L engines had 3.07 gears, so i guess im not on 3.55s... wait does that mean for when i go to 33s i should still use 4.10s? or should i use somethign lower? wats the best for the best gas mileage?

I do mostly city driving and usually get about 12-14mpg. When I picked my XJ up from St. Louis and drove it out to Cheyenne, it got HORRIBLE gas mileage..but I think it had to do with the fact that it had been on a boat for 30+ days on its voyage from Hawaii. I really haven't done many a road trips since then to see what it does on highway. The wind and hills around here and down to Denver kill it though. Now with the lift, tires and soon to be roof rack..I just try and not pay attention anymore..when it needs gas..I give it to her. My wifes 08 Camry doesn't even get that great of gas mileage due to the wind and hills though.
Cheyenne's windsocks are chains.

oh speaking of wind i know exactly what yuo mean. i actually stay off the highway on my way to school just b/c i actualyl cant use 5th gear most of the times b/c of hte hills and the wind you can feel it strong, jeeps have loose enough steering as is but once lifted and stuff its terrible. i can get into 5th gear at 40mph though in hte city, actually i guess its liek 46mph..

With the hills here, and it being a crappy 2.8 I don't even try to check it "I'm afraid" I have to keep the skinny pedal down alot. Thank goodness my kick down cable works.
