Looking at replacing these switches for lights, locker, etc. What kind of switches are they, meaning model number, name, etc? I added the panel after I found it at a local bone yard.

OEM.

Rear defroster, windshield washer, fog lights.

I figured as much. Looking for like a model number of some sort so I can maybe get some blank ones w/out marking.

Thanks. What I am looking for is, to replace those switches with blank switches with no markings. See how these have a windshield, and a light icon? I want blank ones. So, I am not turning the defroster on to activate my locker. Follow?

Bad photo shop, but you get the idea.

Before and after. By replacing the switches.

The picture is of mine, in my jeep (from a JY as stated).

Ya, I thought about that. But, my OCD will not allow it.

So you are not using those for what they are then. I gotcha why not just touch it up with a black sharpy or paint marker?

Ya, my Cherokee didn't come with those options. The panel was blank. I picked up that panel at JY off Miliken & 60fwy.

OCD wont allow it. lol!

The older years look like they maybe blank. But, i'd buy new if I have a part number or something.

Okay what about like rubbing it off with an eraser?

sthon 07-10-2012 02:20 PM

Use some very fine sand paper.

stock95sport(for now) 07-10-2012 02:21 PM

or non acetone nail polish. it'll eat the paint that makes up the markings, but not the plastic of the switch. Dont soak em in it, lol that may eat some plastic.

Good idea as well.

Brake fluid also removes paint from plastic without ruining it. Probably a better idea than non acetone nail polish remover. I say take some old brake fluid, dab a Q-tip in it, and rub the paint off, if your OCD allows. Haha. Just don't let it sit on there for too long or let it hit anything else. Hopefully it would come out fine. If not, paint them to match the rest of the interior, just use the right paint and do a decent job. I doubt you would find some without the little markings on them. Good luck!
