Default What has been done to my xj??

So last night as I lay sleeping, I was mulling over my favorite possession and it occurred to me that in spite of that the po or ppo added flares, they still don't cover the outer edge of the tires. It has a 3" budget lift, but no spacers or any other easily identifiable reason that this would be the case. Is there a measurement that I could take as compared to stock? And then what is the stock measurement for comparison? From axle end to axle end measures about 54 inches, longer axles? I just don't know, but I'm losing sleep......

do you really think those have that much? i was gonna say 4.5, but its hard for me to gauge that because the tires arent 12.5" wide
