Default What differential will fit my jeep

Hi evryone,

I have a 92 Jeep Cherokee, 4x4, Speed tranny. My rear differential gave out. I want to replace it but not sure what Jeep years will work with mine? Can I use any as long as the differential lokes the same?

Your front and rear gear ratios must match between front and rear diff. There is a metal tag running vertically on your front axle (dana 30) that tells your gear ratio. Example 3 07

Other than that, any D35, 8.25, or D44 out of a XJ should work fine.

Your 5spd has 3.07 in the diffs. So you will either have to find another 5spd xj, or upgrade your axles with some from an auto and get a 3.53 gear ratio.
