For some reason when I put the heater on this year its been blowing black crap out of the vents, kind of a meshy material...anyone have any ideas?

The foam seals around your ducts has probably broken down and now you have leaks.
Home Depot carries Frost King black foam tape.
And mouse and sqiurrel traps if that is what helped it along.
Getting cold here and field mice move in where ever they can get warm.

Mold maybe from the old leak that dried up but still grew stuff.
