Default What is clutch housing brace rod?

I have 2 Cherokees and don't see any rods.
Is that rod between lover clutch housing bolts and engine block?
All cars have them but my Cherokees don't. Are they missing?

It appears only the models w 4cyl engine have a brace.
Looked in the FSM.
