have a 91 with a 4.0and would like to no what i can get rid of that has to do with the computer and it still run want it to b as simple has it can

 

You need to consider what type of transmission you have bc if it is an auto it is computer controled. If oyu have a manaul you can get real simple and bolt on a 4.2l intake and a carb, but from someone who has both I don't know why you would want to.

i always wanted to make a stand alone 4.0L motor run, like on a engine stand.

I dont know about a 91, but newer cherokee's had 1 wireing harness that had all the engine sensors on it, so I was thinking of taking a motor, putting all the sensor/brackets, etc on it, hook up engine harness to a ECU, then crank the engine over and see if it would run on its own,...

 

well its been done before, and this looks like a 91-96 HO 4.0L.
