This is the EVAP system for the emission control system on the Jeep, it isnt an A/C component

As far as having no vacuum hose there, Im sure you are having some driveability issues with an open vacuum port somewhere on your XJ

I would replace it pronto, those things are cheap, and easy to replace

the source is a metal tube that come out directly behind the intake manifold

its a small 1/4 line
