so ive mentioned im kinda teaching myself how to work on my 85 xj. but im kinda stuck on what this plastic box is? i cant find it in my chilton book, or any diagrams of an exploded view of an under the hood view online. so i will ask here.

i know its an oil based liguid, and the other box is my windshield fliud.
my jeep is an 85 4cyl. if that helps any.

 

just from the way the overflow flex tube from your radiator is leading... (toward that un-named container) i'd guess it could be just that, an overflow tank.... but i'm not familiar with 4cl setups so i could be very wrong, but just a guess...... trace where that tube from your radiator cap goes to, if it leads into that container then i guess i would be correct
