Default Whack Oil Pressure

I know this has been covered, but none seam to be exactly like mine. I know i need to confirm with a mechanical gauge i just want to see if anyone else has had the same problem cause it is odd. When i first got the jeep it had this problem where the check gauge light would come on and oil pressure would fluctuate. With only 115k on it and its a 97 i assumed it was just the sensor. Changed the oil with penzoil 10w-40, napa filter and some lucas and replaced the sensor and it fixed the problem however it has returned and now its different. On startup the jeep has perfect pressure a notch under 40psi when you start driving it goes down to the notch above zero sometimes it goes to zero, sometimes it shoots back up to 60 which i find odd. Theres no ticking, knocking or odd noises. It doesn't run sluggish or off at all comparable to the other 4.0s I've owned. I just think its odd that one second it can be at zero and then shoot up to 60. Any insight would be appreciated!

Could be gauge is lying, but maybe a new sending unit is in order.. Possibly the one you replaced was faulty.. like RTorrez1 said, the ports can get plugged up too..

Like you said you do need to verify your pressure. While you have the sending unit off make sure that the passages are not plug up with crud. Also where did you get the new sending unit from? although the OEM sending units are not 100% accurate they are much better then an after market unit.
