Welding tailpipe to hitch
So the threads that hold my tail pipe are striped, causing it to be loose and hit my shackel. Since it was it the shop, I had them take a look. They said to fix it they need to weld it to the hitch. Is this a good idea or bad? If in the future I bought a aftermarket bumper, could it be rewelded to it?

Weld the exhaust hanger, or the exhaust itself to the hitch? If they're saying to weld the exhaust pipe itself to the hitch, find a new shop. Exhaust pipes are mounted using exhaust hangers with rubber seperating the pipe from the frame (or unibody in our case), that is because exhaust systems vibrate. Pictures of your situation would be helpful, they explain better than words in most cases. Alot of the members here have forgotten more about Cherokees than I know, throw up some pics and I bet they'll help you find a good solution in no time.

Yea it was the hanger. I decided to pay them a visit and it looks like now there going to weld a piece to where it attached originally and the hanger will attach to that, so it looks like theres not going to be a problem. Thanks though

That exhaust pipe is probably twisting at the back of the muffler. Mine did the same and I just had everything from the muffler back welded together solid once I twisted it back out of the way. Pretty loud inside the cab, isn't it? If they welded it to the hitch, it would be quite noisy all the time inside your cab, not to mention hard on the exhaust manifold.

We'll the shop wasn't able to get the bolt thats holding the hanger off. Its too close to be cut or heated, and will not come out. Until this comes out my gastank is skidless, so I need to remove it. Would an exhaust shop be able to do this?

Its doesn't look like its twistin at the back at the muffler, and its not a noisy ride, we the exhaust at least
