welding my spider gears???? GOOD OR BAD IDEA

I know a guy that wheel s with 37s and he has a D35.

should gusset it
if u don't get yukon shaft you will break the 35s but who knows you only have 31s
i say go for it heres some motivation

Most that do that (if there smart) have some solid rod inside of the spiders to help hold all in place before they start the weld..

Ok if we're going to debate the Dana 35 in any fasion start another thread on it.

This post is a very good question with a chance at lots of good info on welding axles..

So move the D35 debate's into there own thread.....

I would fill it with some old chain links THEN weld it up.

That looks alot better. AND they removed the ring gear. Judging from all the debis and weld splatter on the other one, they left the ring gear on.

Pay very close attention to all of the blue areas. One of those areas will be where it breaks.

i say do its not a bad idea. if its on a trail rig its a great idea. why spend 250 bucks on a locker when you can just bring out the welder and do it for free. when it breaks then buy a new carrier and re gear.
