Unhappy Weird Stuff in my Oil

I went to check my oil level today and when I pulled out the dip stick I was 2 quarts short and I had black stuff all on the bottom of my dip stick. I just changed the oil 2 weeks ago so it should still be at a good level. Any? advice on what could be causing me to lose oil and what is in my oil?

Are you leaking any where? What kind of black? Liquid?

Take the oil fill cap off and stick your finger in there and see if you come up with a bunch of sludge. If you do...the DPO didn't take care of your engine. Might consider one of those flush products - Seafoam?? Anyway, there are products out there that are supposed to deal with sludge.

I suggest that you get about an ounce or more of this stuff and take it to a lab and have it analyzed. It probably is just sludge, but why you suddenly lost that much oil is a mystery to me.

I would go beyond just taking the oil filler cap off, I'd remove the valve cover and check for sludge.

Default missing oil

If you lost that much oil that fast I would check you oil pressure sensor it sits right over top of the oil filter. I had my oil changed before and it broke off while they were removing the oil filter. The sludge is probably what oil was left cooked down by the excessive heat. You can use seafoam to clean the sludge or automatic transmission fluid(just change oil with some cheap-o motor oil and add a quart of tranny fluid) let it run in park for about 15 to 20 minutes then drain it and refill with new oil and filter. Be aware if there is alot of sludge you may plug your screen on your oil pump so watch your oil pressure gauge. If it does get plugged just drop you oil pan remove your screen and clean it well.
