Yea, the renix models had an adjustable tps, the HO don't. I would be curious if the tc isn't acting up on you, because using the molasses just makes the fluid thicker and easier for it to 'grab'. The high idle...that makes me think vacuum leak more then likely

it more hit and miss. Its not harsh shifting its smooth until I get on the highway about 65 then its in and out of o/d and once in a while down to 3rd. I'm going to have to check out the tcm again because I didn't see a fuse any where on that little box.

If the manual shifting is good, then you have a trans which is mechanically ok and the problem likely electrical...but the intermittent issue was already suggesting that.

yeah I read on a post very similar to this which made me try it. Just dont know what electrical part guess I'll start with a new tcm before I go into those cylinoids
I used Lucas because it was slipping in and out of gears like I stated in the earlier posts. My ignorance to transmissions thought if Lucas says it stops slips and prolongs transmission life then it would work for mine. As I also stated I've been using it in all 5 of my jeeps over the last ten years and it has never made anything worse.
Salad and the guys were just trying to educate you on combined experience for what works with the aw4 and what doesnt. I am a new member, and new to jeeps, and these fellas have been nothing but helpful and knowledgeable. They will poke at you sometimes but they have a sincere intent to guide you in the right direction if you want to be.
The general population on forums despise any "treatments in a bottle"
In-fact most of them will cringe at throwing parts at a problem as well, and will give you the proper testing procedures to save a buck.
Thanks for your service, i'm a combat vet as well.
Bottom line is... Its your jeep.. you are the final mechanic..
The idle issue sounds like its in the IAC honestly... So you removed the throttle body and cleaned out the port where the IAC plunger goes into? Did you clean the IAC plunger really well? It could just be a bad IAC.
You said no vacuum leaks? My gut feeling is faulty IAC for the idle issue...
You may need to do a reset so the IAC can be learned. I swapped mine out and the new one freaked out on me at first... Did a reset and the idle went back to normal.. maybe someone will chime in on IF this is necessary...

I see and understand your point, Lucas is the only bottle juice I have used. I replaced the tps and cps cleaned out tb adjusted kick down changed granny fluid and just yesterday unplugged the tcs and started driving it in manual. Now on the highway it stays in gear. To answer the question if Lucas made it better, no it didn't make it any better.

the idle remains at a constant 1100 then after driving for a while drops to 700-900. It has crust and still works. I've been manually shifting it since I unplugged the tcm so in that instance its fine.
