I have a 2001 Cherokee and recently I have been hearing a clinking noise from under the hood. It only happens when I have it in gear and I give it gas. In 1st gear it's off and on randomly 2nd and 3 gear its constant and 4th and 5th it goes away. As soon as I let off the gas it goes away and as soon as I touch the gas again it's back. Anyone have anything happen like this??

There is no way anyone without extremely awesome psychic powers and super human hearing can answer this over the interwebz. You'll have to poke around under the hood and underneath the vehicle until you can locate this "sound".

I was just moving some things around and it seems like there's a small crack in what I think is the heat cover for the motor mounts which is making a similar noise but I don't see how this could make the noise like it does from when I accelerate

Anything that flexes while under torque could be the culprit.
