??The weight of a 4.0 W/head ?
I just rigged up a boom. Actually to move some old Onan's and stuff. Was wondering if anyone happens to know the weight of the 4.0 right off. A short google search turned up dead end threads. Thanks!

I recently asked a guy I want to buy a motor from and he mentioned 500 lbs. I think that was with most of the stuff (alt, injection, etc.) intact. But not real sure.

Right, the actual weight we might want to deal with. Was thinking about the same, but would like to find a real #. This boom is not over-built, I'd like to test it...maybe with double.....And thanks!

500 lbs is a good figure to work with.
Ford 302 (bare) is about 450 lbs, 350 Chevy is @550 lbs, big blocks 600-900.
The sixes are surprisingly heavy, about 400 lbs for a 200 Ford six, about 500 for the 300 truck six. This motor is probably right in the middle.
Pulling the intakes, waterpump, alternator and accessories off it can shed 100 lbs. The head is another 50 lbs.
These are all round figures, but you will find them safe to work with, give or take 50 lbs.

•GM Small Block V8 (LS1), 407 lbs.

Hey..thanks for all the info. Yea...darn. At maybe 350 I might test this with 700. But 500+ ? Don't think I'm gonna test this with 1,100lbs! 4-bangers, large generators, maybe an old t-98 trany I'd rather not lift myself. Again, my thanks.
