Normally I dont post these threads, but I do need some help or advice on this subject.
Has anyone who has replaced the weatherstripping used a specific brand/larger size/etc other than OE replacement to seal the doors better?

i did this a little while back on my XJ, and i see you also have a 95 so....
You can use the weatherstripping from a 97+ XJ - they are thicker and seal better. However, i would only do this on the front doors. Changing out the rears made it VERY hard to properly shut the back doors - stay with the stock seals on the rear.
Improvements are...reasonable.
Part number for 97-98 is 5517 6148
Part number for 99 is 55176 148AB
Part number for 00-01 is 55176 148AC
or just visit your friendly local JY

not sure of the exact size. I found a picture comparing the two though, you could use it to guesstimate

Here is what I used to reseal my front doors:

Was about a foot long, trimmed it down and it works perfectly, airtight. I know a fox door seal isn't exactly conventional, but I figured I'd give it a shot since I am able to get them on the cheap

Anyone done any custom weatherstripping to keep mud out of the door jams? I open my doors and there is always mud just inside. I have a 1996 Range Rover that has a seal that eliminates this problem.
