Water Pumps and cherokees
I am looking at buying a 97 jeep cherokee with 178, XXX miles, the jeep overall is in really good condition. The guy told me today he is getting the water pump replaced. Is this pretty normal for this milage? or is this really soon for the water pump to go out? I dont really want to buy a jeep that has been driven really hard and is going to die soon.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would almost bet thats the third or fourth pump for the engine. I have seen them last 20,000 miles and up to 80-100,000 miles. its really hard to say for sure

I just replaced the original water pump on my 99 with 132K miles on it Saturday morning. Pretty much everything in it is original except the tune up parts, brakes, etc. The water pump started leaking from the bottom weep hole.
