Default Water Pump replacement on a 1990 XJ

So I have the water pump off, but the tube coming out of the upper inlet will not come off. Does anyone know what this is called and can it be purchase at Auto Zone.

Also is there an easy way to bleed the air out of the cooling system when I am finished. I have the standard plastic resivior 2 core plastic radiator.

Umm, goes to a hose coming from the coolant res. Just a simple aluminum tube about 5 inch long 1/2 in diameter.

Silly tube is stuck on the old water pump. Someone got over zealous with the wrench I guess. Mechanic or builder on steroids I think. I just need to vice it out of there, no one sells the part.

You can buy what you need at a hardware store. Just take it in and match the threads, it's a simple pipe fitting, or you can pull one from a JY. HTH!!

Yes that is standard pipe threads IIRC any way it does not need to come off to replace a water pump anyway.

They can be tough at times, but brute force always worked for me. I put the old pump in a vice, then use a closed end wrench on it. If you need more leverage use the double wrench method... or a pipe that fits over the wrench.
