OK everyone little backround i have a 96 cherokee 4.0 . The other day i began hearing an awful scraping noise with the engine rpm. Pulled the belt noise went away. played with all the pulleys and waterpump pulley has alot of play back and forth. So just gonna replace pump and pulley. Any thing i should know before delving into it?

 

Are you on your original water pump, I'd change it while you were at it, not too expensive.

That happened to me after I replaced my original one with a cheapo Chinese rebuild, try to spend a few bucks and get a good one.
