Your gettin close. Mine runs about 210 on a hot day maybe 215 idling around. These things do run warm. When my aux fan kicks on it knocks it right down to 195 or so though.

Well had to quit for the day, broke heater valve and storm how does the heater valve connect I can't find a picture of the one I have, the ones at the parts store are different

A properly functioning t-stat does one thing only.....control minimum coolant temp. Technically, the heater valve/heater core are not part of the cooling system and should not cause increased coolant temps.
