DOT 3 & 4 can be mixed together.

Thank you - I keep getting that mixed up. So, I figure "no mixing" is usually a safe rule to follow (if you must err, err on the side of caution.)

I'm not sure why an Amsoil dealer would NOT recommend their ATF????. This is the first time I've heard anything about their product not being good in older AW4 tranny's.

I'm using their ATF and in my '94 with 120K and I noticed a significant improvement immediately. Shifting was much smoother. Trans runs cooler too.

If you talk with seasoned AMSOIL pros, they will tell you of all the fluids that they make, ATF is by far the one you should go with if you had to only pick one fluid to replace any dino oil in a vehicle.

Atlas transfer case manufacturers only warranty their cases if you use AMSOIL gear oil too.

Haha, yeah saw the trash container. I used to live in Bwood but have recently relocated for work. Graduated Liberty not that long ago. If you ever need any help on that thing or just looking to wheel let me know. Still have friends in the area that are good people.

atlas would be a new unit not a 100k mile unit. i was just worried about slippage, and or leaks. the oil in the tranny, and the t case is a dark brown like its a different fluid or weight. i have talked myself into the amsoil change, so i guess i will find out. i already have it in the engine, and axles, and have ran it in whatever i own with no problems.

I use Amsoil full syn universal ATF and it works great. As with engine rebuilds, it is always good to start with dyno oil during break-in and then switch (if you so choose).

This is becuase Dot5 brake fluid is silicone based.
