Hello.
I live in France where Cherokees are not common.
I have a 2005 Jeep cherokee 2.8 diesel.
The engine starts first time when cold or when at running temperature. The problem I have is that if you leave the engine to cool for a bit ( between 10 mins and 2 hours ) she fires and runs at low revs then shudders and stops or shudders and picks up to normal after several attempts.
It has been to my usual garage a number of times and they have taken her to the main Chrysler dealer. They suggest a transmission problem but to my mind it seems like a fuel issue.
I would appreciate someone elses thoughts.
regards
Martyn

No problem! But when you start it up
Let it sit and idle for 30 seconds before you put it into gear and it'll help minimize the stall/hesitation.
Edit: looked through some of my notes on the problem. The fuel system isn't holding pressure and the fuel is draining back into the tank. When you start there's enough fuel left in the line to start the engine and idle a bit but once you press on the accelerator the remaining fuel in the line is used up and engine sputters while the system pressurizes. personally I'd wait until it completely dies to replace it, mine has been doing it for the past 70,000 miles and still runs strong.
