on a 2000 2 door XJ. Yes I know it has a skim module and I found a way to get rid of it. I just use an ecm from a 97 to 99 that doesn't use it. And also remove the antenna from around the key.
From all my research that should do it. Unless I want to buy a bypass.
Which I don't. Not for $200 which is the addon to the installed price I get from just about anyone who does them around here.
Here's the kicker.
I tell the guy (that tells me $300 installed is a good price with the bypass), I don't have the skim anymore as I'm using an older ECM yada yada.
He fires back that in 2000 they went and changed the way the fob tells the doors to unlock and that NOW if I want the doors to unlock without the bypass I'll have to install new wiring etc in the doors.
I'm thinking that this guy thinks I'm stupid.
How in the hell does the door locks use the skim module? He says that you can't use the fob from the remote to open the doors etc. Can't use the remote starter module to trigger the locks.

I think this is just BS but I need my jeep brothers here to help me out.
Is he handing me a shovel full?
