want confirmation. fuel sending unit.
I knew my gas gauge was alittle off...now its a full 1/8 tank off. I know the pump and the sending unit can be done seperately...but I also think its prolly a good idea to change both. What do u guys think?

Mine is off by about that much too. I fill up whenever the light comes on. The way I see it, if I let the gas level get lower than that, you're gunna be sucking up all the gunk that sits at the bottom of the tank.
But if you're that worried about it, fill up all the way, reset the tripometer, and drive it till it runs outta gas. Then from then on, just go by the tripometer. When it starts to reach the amount that it ran out before, you'll know you need to fill up

I hear ya. I don't let mine get to the light. I always fill itup every 4 days. I can go about 310 miles give or take and then my light comes on. Ihave no worries about running out of gas. I know her pretty good.lol. I was just wondering if I should change the pump out at the same time. I know they come as one assembly, but I can also get just the sending unit too. It one of those while ur there and the tank is out. I'm gonna do the pump and s.u. ill just wait til it get warm again. Thanks

Don't buy Airtex, a shop that I really trusted to do work on my Cherokee replaced my stock fuel pump with an Airtex it worked fine for a year then left me stranded outside of a ford dealership 10 miles from home. I have Bosch now, and if that ever goes out I'm dropping that tank myself and replacing everything.

The fuel pump sucks up from the bottom of the tank whether the tank is full or near empty.. So, all that gunk in YOUR tank is the first to go
My fuel related tip is to keep the tank topped off (full) as much as possible. Especially in changing weather conditions. A full tank has less air in it to condense water vapor (which is heavier than gas and pools at the bottom with all that gunk) Plus+ filling up when you're at 3/4 tank is a lot cheaper than when it's nearly empty. (i know.. but it seems like you're spending less) ..and add a can of Heet once in a while.. it turns the water in your tank into nitrous oxide, giving you a 10% increase in horsepower, cleaner exhaust, smoother shifting, better wind resistance and in some cases no more flat tires! Hope this helps

Haha. I fill up 2x a week anyway. Mine doesn't get to the light. I can go 310 miles then myh light comes on. But I usually get gas @ 290miles. Once every4 days.
Thanks a lot guys.

FYI. There is a tsb from jeep about faulty sending units. It wasn't a safety hazard so it was never a recall.
Their fix: replace the sender.... Lol
