Default Want 4-4.5" lift, got parts list..your thought

It currently has a 3" budget boost.

Would like to get 4"-4.5" to fit 33's.

I'm on a tight budget, so hope to find most of the parts used....

Here's what the plan....

-4" front spring
-stock upper control arms
-16.5" lower control arms
-adjustable track bar
-sway bar disconnect
-extended brake lines
-front DS/sye
-add leafs to the rear pack
-rear shackles
-longer shocks
-zj tierod
-bumpstops

Was able to locate 2 sets of rear TJ fender flares..

Not sure if anythings missing...

Would like to get your feedback..

Thanks..

Sound like a pretty good build plan. By building some bastard pack springs for the rear, and using junkyard ZJ V8 front springs and spacers, you could get the 4-4 1/2" of lift you are looking for. That'll leave you some more cash for the other stuff on your shopping list!

After reading different posts on this forum and others. Many indicate the short control arm will have a much rougher ride than long control arms.

Don't know if this applies to lifts greater than 5"....

For rear, I would recommend a bastard pack vs the AAL.

When you do the rear dont do an AAL do a shackle or leaf pack. The AAL will sag quick.

If I do go higher, do you think 16.5" control arms would work?

My neighbor is a welder and I could have him set something up.

What kind of coils are you going to use? I am using a set of t-bird coils (they offer a little over 4 inches of lift)

I am also going to build a set of long arms for the lowers (as I already max out my jeeps control arms when I try to remove my oil pan.

Not sure on which coils to use. I read on another forum something about t-bird coils. Is any modification needed to make them work? Do they just drop into place?

Keep us posted on your long arm build. I ran across this build,

Long arm build part 1

Long arm build part 2

Is this what your going to be making? Would like to follow the build..

I have seen a lot of builds online but that is probably the best one i have seen! yes, that is exactly what I plan on doing - I plan on have a friend do the welding for me (he has been welding for 20+ years)

The only thing you need to do to get the t-bird coils to work is when you go to the jy to take the mounting bracket from the fender (where the coil sits) you have to drill it out to 2.1 inches - so that it fits around the bump stops. Other than that, you shouldn't need to do anything to make them work. - Also make sure you get coils from a 91+ v6 - the older body style coils are only 16 inches at rest - the newer t-bird is 18 inches at rest - which to mean seems like the newer would provide for more flex (lower spring rate). I guess I will find out when I install them

I've seen another post on a forum with much more detail on the long arm build. Will post it here if I find it. Just can't seem to find the site...
