I know the in dash voltage meter is really not to be trusted but since I have started to run my AC I have seen some pretty wild (3-4 volts) fluctuations on meter. Today I got my multimeter out and measured at the battery. Highest voltage read was 13.71 lowest was 13.4 with EVERYTHING on and various voltages in between depending on what I turned on. Voltage meter in dash had the same big fluctuation even dropping into the red with everything on.
Mainly want to know if I was measuring correctly and if I was is therea way to fix the in dash meter?

Thanks. I went through most of them today. Couldn't get to the one at the back of the valve cover. Don't have the right extensions for that one but I'll get it today when I go to my parents.

Got the strap on the back of the head off today. Replaced it with a 4g wire from O'Reilly's and relocated the one end to fuel rail bolt per cruiser54 instructions. That netted me a 2/10 voltage increase across the board at the battery and the gauge in the dash isn't fluctuating quite as wildly. I think next up is going to be a call to 5-90 to upgrade the rest of my cabling and extend the ground under driver side dash down to the chassis instead of just on the dash itself. Thanks again I'll update if any of that changes anything.
