I just lifted my XJ 4.5 inches, now i have some slight vibrations and my driveline seems to be noisy and highway speeds. Lift included t-case drop kit and rear axle shims to correct the driveshaft angles, so i wasn't expecting this. Anyone else with these issues? If so, i'm looking for corrections.

well with 4.5" of lift you usually need a Slip Yoke Eliminator and a CV driveshaft to correct any further vibrations/noise after a TC drop and shims...

Yeah i was afraid of that. To me it seems most logical that the vibration is coming from the front since the angles are greater, is that not usually the case?

You need to get an angle finder at a tool store for a few bucks and match the angles of the pinion and tcase. It needs to look like this:

I am in the same boat. 4.5" lift, 1" tc drop, 6 degree shims. I think the noise I am hearing is because there is not much shaft left in the TC. I am going to have my drive shaft lengthened.

A SYE IMHO is by far the best choice. I cannot lay that kind of cash out right now. I would like to lengthen my existing, pick up a 231 cheap and go through it while installing the kit, find a used front drive shaft for cheap then swap them out. That is most likely though one of those plans that will never happen.

I know exactly what you mean, i'm not crazy about shelling out the cash for a SYE either. So let me get this straight... can a front shaft be used for a rear one?

That is what I have been reading. I think a front from an auto is the correct length (not 100% sure though, this is a new area for me).
I think I am going to switch gears and just run what I have till I can pick up a SYE. A friend gave me a front shaft so it is not to far out of reach now.
