Very leaky 88 cherokee
Hey guys I have a 88 Cherokee with a 4.0L automatic and it is leaking oil profusely. I've already replaced the valve cover gasket and it didn't help. So then, I just got done replacing the rear main seal and the oil pan gasket thinking that that was the problem since it seemed that that's where the oil was coming from. So after a day I took it out on the road to see if it leaked and when I parked it was still leaking just as bad . I know that I put the rear main seal in correctly and that the oil pan gasket is not leaking. So my question is what is causing this leak? Have I missed something? Please answer asap so that I can get it back on the road!!!

There are several threads about what to check if you search. Did you look at your oil filter housing? They are notorious for leaking.

If you get it clean, then watch right away you should be able to see what is leaking.
Oil from the oil filter adapter blows back and drips off the bell housing. It's very common for those to leak, in your shoes I'd make darn sure. (that and the pressure sender.) I'd blast the area good at the car wash then look right away with a good light before driving it. Once it blows around you can't see where it came from.
That 1/2" tube, forward on the valve cover needs to be free to vent. It goes to the air cleaner. If that were restricted somehow, crankcase pressure would make it **** oil all over. (RM and the seal on the timing chain cover for starters)

Those links have tork's, you don't. Only install black O rings. (the blue or green or whatever are not right)
