One time I decided to splice on a new 02 sensor connector for my upstream and got the wiring wrong. I had the ground going to the sensor signal.
Even with that I got 10 MPG and you could smell unburned gas fumes if you were anywhere within 20 feet of it. If I stepped on it at all pure black smoke would come out of the tail pipe like it was a diesel.
Since I don't think you have those symptoms, and you have half the gas mileage I did, I personally think your gas is either leaking out somewhere or being stolen. If you rain anywhere near as rich as I did you would know too much fuel is being put into the chambers, but since you have half the gas mileage and none of the symptoms I think it's safe to assume there is a leak somewhere.
Have you tried taking a lighter and running it down the fuel lines while it's running?

That's not unheard of then. You aren't in as deep of **** as we thought. You can certainly do a little better than that with a little TLC but after all, you aren't leaking fuel or getting robbed so that's good

Yeah but what gets me is, at 139 miles my gauge was reading empty. filled it up and didn't even go to the F. so when my gauge reads empty does that mean i can still go another 60 miles before i should fill up?
