Default Valve Covers

I have an 87 XJ, 4.0 with almost 195,000 miles. Looking to see if anyone has exchanged valve covers from a renix era one to a newer one, (from an 87 to say 99). Reason being the rubber grommets in the valve cover are shot, along with the emission tubing for the CCV system. Local parts houses do not have a listing for the vacuum harness, or the grommets. Looking for the cheapest way of replacing them. Thanks

I'm in the same boat. Rockauto.com has the rear hose and grommet, but I can't get a grommet for the front, and both of mine are leaking, as well as the oil filler cap (also on rockauto). I know a newer valve cover will bolt up, but I don't know if you can use the hoses from one

You cannot buy just the grommet for the front, its one piece with the hose - http://www.teamgrandwagoneer.com/par...iled/3001.html

new grommets come with a new V/C gasket. Just pick one up from AutoZone or something; I think it was $19.99. I just did mine the other night; spent more time cleaning all the oil off the intake manifold/head.

Maybe on the steel valve cover, but the aluminum valve cover gasket just comes with the gasket. The cork one is $6 and doesn't work well. The rubber with steel guts is $40 and works great, but still doesn't come with grommets

seems you can use a new style valve cover and gasket on renix motors
