Default Using ZJ parts to upgrade my XJ

I am collecting parts to build up my 1990 XJ (HP D30 front, and adding a 29 spline aussie locked 8.25 rear). My buddy just wrecked his 1996 ZJ, lp d30 front and supposedly a d44 rear. Its a 4.0, so I thought that the d44 rears only came in the v8 models.

Here are my questions:
I plan to get the front axle for the shafts they should hve the larger u-joints than mine. Can I use the brakes for an upgrade? Ive seen it with WJ brake3s stuff, but dint know if ZJ stuff is better than what I have. Since I will have the whole axle, I can just swap out the knuckles and everything else. Is it even worth it?

I know that if the rear is a d44, I can use the disk brake stuff to convert my 8.25 to disks. If it really is a d35, can I still use the parts for a conversion? I am thining because the d35 axle tubes are smaller I cant.

Thanks for any advice/suggestions!

I'm positive the D44 only came with the V8's. You can use the rear disc brakes with a little grinding. I don't know about the ZJ D30, though the WJ does have beefier knuckles and joints. This might help.

Thanks for the info. The ZJ front axle has better u-jonts but that seems to be it. The calipers are still a single piston design. The WJ has a double piston caliper.

So either he was wrong about the rear being a d44 and got very weak beating on a d35 with 35" tires or it musthave been swapped in. Still gotta see if I can use the d35 disks though.
