Default URGENT, shift rod to transfer case broke now car is stuck in 4x4!!

I just got done with a differential fluid change, took it out for a spin and popped it into 4x4 several times to make sure all was well.

I pulled into the driveway and came to complete stop and decided to pop it to 4high, then I as I switched to 2wd drive again, something sounded like it dropped and the transfer case lever was now moving freely around.

Luckily this happened in the driveway so I just pulled the car into the garage and shut it off. After a quick look under the car I found that the rod broke from its pin head (like the actual piece snapped in half).

I don't know what to do, or how I can fix this? I was thinking of trying JB weld but there's no way I can hold pressure on that thing until it sets. I tried the smallest C-clamp I have and I just can't get it on there to hold for the 10-12 hours this thing needs to set.

Please help me out, I can't find the part online either so I am afraid it's going to be a dealer only item which will set me back quite a few $$$.

Thanks

I would manually pop it back into 2wd so you can drive it. Try any local auto wrecker/junkyard?

I can't pop it back into 2wd.

What happens if I drive it in 4x4 part time? I found a shop that can weld it for cheap...I just need to get it there.

sure you can, there's a lever on the side of the transfer case. it's about 2"x4"long piece of flat metal. shift it all the way up or down, depending on your t case.
you do need to put your jeep in neutral, but be sure to block the wheels before getting under it.
to be sure it's going into 2wd, have the front jacked up so you can spin the tires.

but you should be fine to drive to the shop for welding. just don't turn sharp like at full lock in a parking lot.
wait, it's not in 4lo is it. you can drive it in 4hi part time, but not 4lo. you'd have to manually switch it before you drive it.

Wow, so I took it to that shop, they ended up screwing up my car ten fold. The guy got it stuck in 4lo, and told me that it was in 2wd. There's much more to the story than that, but eventually I told the guy to give me the transfer case rod back because I am going to take the car to another shop that's more competent.

I had to tow it out of there unfortunately but atleast it's in a shop I trust now.

Today turned out to be a really crappy day for me. The one thing I am really concerned about is the short distance I drove to the shop. I had to leave it in 4x4 part time, kept the turns to an absolute minimum (I did have to make one u turn.....car didn't like it that much). The transmission also grinded when I put it into park because he disengaged the axles....

I am pretty pissed that this happened and I honestly hope nothing got screwed up.

dude, a lot of junkyards still have clunker cars and trucks... call around a bit. a 200-300 mile trip even might be worth it.
