X2....the one who really suffers through all this is your kid. A word of advice: Keep your situation to yourself when dealing with your ex if you want to have any visitation with your kid. As soon as the ex sees a weak spot, she'll go for the throat. If the lawyers or CPS gets wind of your new "lifestyle" it could go very wrong for you and your kid, and it will be tough to claw back from that.

Gotta love how the laws punish the provider for the house and treat the mom like innocent perfection. OP, I wish you the best of luck. I watched my father go through a debilitating divorce with my 'mother' (may she burn one day), and the courts always took care of her. Bulls×××. He got through it though like I'd bet you will too. Look into renting a room if you can in a big house.. my dad had to. It was at least a warm place that was secure. He did it on the cheap while working two jobs.
Just my humble opinion, but any woman, ex or not, who can gladly watch this happen to a man is not human.
Maybe consider wiring in a second battery for a little extra 'not on' power. If it gets really cold, when we went hunting we would burn a can of sterno in our tent. It didn't choke us or anything, just put it on a solid surface. It'll keep you warm. God bless OP, and good luck.

Unless your short - its going to get old pretty fast. I would also suggest getting a second job that pays cash, and as others said -- stonewall the **** out of your ex. Shouldnt really be talking to her unless its about your kids -- lawyers can deal with the rest if you are under council.
Stay strong brother!

Remember that if you snore, even a little, you risk exposing yourself if you leave a window cracked. I would definitely recommend pre-scouting another location in case you're asked to leave. Having a handgun is a double-edged sword. The likelihood of law enforcement interaction is much higher when you're sleeping in your car and guns complicate that. You'll have to decide if the security is worth the risk.
Tinting your windows will disguise any condensation. You can also use anti-fogging products like Z'Fogless. Condensation will depend a lot on the temperature and humidity.
Good luck, man.

GUNS........."Its Always Better to be JUDGED by 12 Than CARRIED by 6"!
Remember there are no second place winners when your life is on the line. About the only places you would ever be questioned about having a gun with you would be on the Right or Left coasts. It is an item that I do not leave the house without at least 1, on the trails and camping 3. That not including my wife's 40 cal. Glock that she always carries.

Well we have a house....or at least we did, she does now which I where our child will be raised. My child will not be staying with me in Jeep. Yeah I understand it will get old quick, but renting a room/apartment is kinda defeating the purpose. I have a lot of debt....none to all, the spouse can charge up $50K in credit card debt and its not just her debt, it's yours too! Anyway hence Jeep Living is my option that's my best bet.
Live on the East coast so gun laws are strict here for good reason.

Had the same situation. Had a van at the time and a membership at the YMCA for showers. Slept outside the Y often. I do camp in my XJ a lot. Tint the windows or get curtains. Fold the back seats down. Get some memory foam. Sleep from corner to corner. I would rather be houseless in a XJ than a van. No free candy and you can get to places other people cant.

Memory Foam, good stuff look at how much that tire pushed it down "NOT". Just get a couple of good covers made for it when finished for the size. They can get dirty very fast and the top one can be removed for easy cleaning.
Be careful how you heat it if needed. When I was younger (much) I tried this for over the summer following the NHRA racing circuit on a shoe string budget.

Start knocking on doors of local business, ask if they would be interested in some overnight onsite security.. explain your situation. You might actually earn a few $$
I'd be selling the XJ and looking for a cheap Astro awd conversion van or something that had room for possesions and and room to lie your head down and get decent sleep.
Sounds like you need a new lawyer also.

I agree with the posters above. If you plan on doing this for any length of time, sell the Cherokee and get a Van. Here is a link of a guy that lives out of his van on the east coast.
