Unsure of block casting number decode

Unsure of block casting number decode
Hey all - I've got a 95 but I know it's had a motor transplant which I've always assumed was around a 97. Finally realized I could just run the casting number on the block and know for sure. The casting number is 53010341, but what I keep finding online is this:
Year............Casting No
1987-90......53005535 (8933002665)
1991-95......53008405
1996-98......53020569
1999-04......53010449
So.......Why do the numbers go backwards at 99+? I'm not sure where my 53010341 belongs but I'm sure someone on here knows.
