Default Under coating

Hey everyone, long time. Life's been busy, but anyone with kids and their own business knows about that.

Anyway, I was wondering, a few years back I purchased some spray cans of rubberized under coating from CARQUEST or NAPA but I cant remember which it was. I've been to NAPA, AdvanceAuto, O'Rielly, etc., and I don't see anything similar. The stuff I bought was a THICK, textured spray. When it was applied it looks just like the factory under coating. I bought some Rustoleum Rubberized Under Coating but its total crap. Like a rubber spraypaint. Really thin stuff. Anyone have any ideas?

If you live in the rust belt I would recommend NOT using a rubberized coating. Or any coating that superficially bonds to the underbody for that matter.

WHY? Because although the coatings help keep moisture and salt out, if anything does get in...they help keep the moisture and salt in as well. And you might not even see a growing problem behind the rubber curtain...

Try POR-15. It's more of a heavy oil based product that needs to be reapplied every now and then. People swear by it. And it won't hide nasty rust from you.

I am big on the POR 15 too. Prep is key though. Work at Napa, 5 years now, so I am going to make a guess. Since you say thick and textured I am thinking you bought bedliner spray instead.

If I happen to be right this stuff comes in a gallon container too for brushing on.

Get 3m rubberized undercoating that stuff is the most factory looking i have found. From what i have seen undercoating works if you use it right check it yearly and wash the salt off from the underside of your car.The rubberized undercoating will help with road noise where por15 and bedliner will ping like a tin can on a gravel road.

I used the 3m rubberized undercoating as well. Found it on Amazon for like 3 or bucks a can. After pressure washing it and getting as much loose rust off as I can I usually spray everything with some cheap black rustoleum wait for it to tack up then I spray the underliner. I've had decent success with this method

Appreciate the responses, guys. Thanks! I think it may have been that truck and bed liner stuff, if it sprays on thick and textured.
